It's Time for the Main House Kitchen

Ever since we stepped foot into the lake house, we've wanted to redo the kitchen. It has become clear that the cabinets were repurposed from a previous property. They were placed in strange configurations and were falling apart. However, everyone knows how big a project it is to redo a kitchen. I'm not sure if decided we were ready or just ran out of patience for the current kitchen, but regardless of the reason, the kitchen renovation has begun (and there's no turning back)!

The Original Before:

Our Before:

Current State:

So far we've removed the woodstove and brick underneath. We then began to take up the tile. (and by "we" I mean, Steve and Ross and Jack.)

This is showing where the new island will be in the future state. We've mocking up the spacing before we order cabinets. We're also planning to put down hardwood floor on the whole first floor. This will remove one of the annoying transitions that separates the living room from the kitchen.

Future State:

We're excited to have new cabinets, a cottage style kitchen, an island and new appliances. The open shelves are in the plan to help this new kitchen feel like it was original. There will be lots of little details that will bring in the cottage / country vibes of the house.
