This weekend was great for starting projects but not so great for finishing them. I am focused in creating a functional office and craft room for the second bedroom upstairs. We have a lot of random furniture that has made it's home in that room and now I'm trying to make sense of it. Here are the projects that we made some progress on:
1. The project that Steve and I have planning for a whole year was to make a desk out of two file cabinets and the panic table repurposed for a desk top. I've had the file cabinets since last year and the picnic table came with the house. I was able to spray paint the file cabinets but still need to apply at least one more coat. Steve needs a belt sander before I can stain the table top.
2. The sewing machine that handed down to me from my grandmother came with a sewing table. It was painted a lovely pink color that was not completely in line with my vision of the color pallet in my craft room. So... I decided to paint it. Last year I was able to get a bunch of paint at Home Depot for $0.24 per gallon. I have no idea why it was so cheap because I was able to choose my colors as long as they had the right base color. Anyway, I had a darker color that I haven't used yet and figured this piece would be the perfect peice to try it on. I'm very happy with how the color turned out. I needed Steve's help with a small repair to the hinging section. Once we figure that out ill be able to start placing the furniture in the room.
3. I love organization! This is why I wanted some wall system to help organize craft and sewing tools over my sewing desk. After spending some time on Pinterest I was convinced that peg board was the right choice. I simply painted the peg board and installed it. Now I just need to organize with hooks and containers.
4. In the process of trying to get the office and craft room ready, I went through everything that I have that will eventually live in there and have organized it...it may not look like it yet! It's an organized mess at the moment.
Here are some after photos of the tables that Steve made finished and in place. I love them! We recently got the wood to make a second end table to match the first one. Can't wait!
And here's a picture of what all this crazy weather left us.
Happy Wednesday!
