A Family Effort

Last week while Steve and I were having fun in the sun on Cape Cod, my Dad was installing our new hardwood floors for the kitchen.  They look beautiful!  Yesterday Steve and I tried to do our part and finished the painting for the walls.  We had already painted the area where the cabinets are but we needed to finish the hall and the open wall.  We are loving the color.  It’s somehow blue, green and gray all at the same time.

Today the fam was here to help with some of the projects.  I love when we have help.  Mom and Dad helped us move all of the furniture out of the downstairs bedroom in preparation for the hardwood floors to be refinished.  Also in preparation for the floors to be refinished, the doors were removed and made it the perfect opportunity to paint them white to go with the new feel of the kitchen.  There are two doors that have a natural finish that will be painted white.

I just needed my palm sander and some primer and paint.  I was able to get the doors primed and will need to paint another day.  I do have a week to get this project done since the floors will take all week.

My Mom had a great idea to document the gardens at different times of the season.  I’m sure next summer it will be tough to remember what plants we have.  So here are some photos to help remember what flowers we have during this stage of the summer. This will be so helpful when I’m rearranging all of the gardens next year.

My Mom was very helpful in the gardens.  She pruned tons of the unwanted plants and weeded our hosta garden.  I’m very thankful because I never would have gotten to this myself.  After a whole truck load of branches and brush went to the dump, the backyard looks so much better.

Thanks for the help!
