Paint and Decking

Steve and I had a great weekend.  We were able to find a good balance of house work and fun with friends and family.  We were able to get some odds and ends done.  Here's the recap...

Steve and I took a half day on Friday and were able to help with the progress with the deck.  Steve and my dad were able to get the decking started and Steve and I got some more done on Saturday.  We also did some demolition on the old deck (that was my favorite part!).

Demo of the old deck.

Nothing a sledge hammer can't handle.

The decking.

We painted the front door!  This was the first painting project that I did on my own.   I felt no need to start on something that I could hide in the back of the house or the basement, I went right for the front door!  I love the new color.  This project makes me feel like we're bringing our personalities to the house.  We hope the neighbors like it.

Before: The old front door and shutter colors.

The new door color.  (It's hard to see the color in this lighting.)

We are looking to replace the light to finish the look.

Steve has gotten crazy for spray paint.  It's amazing how much a little paint can transform something old into something new and beautiful.  Here's what we painted this weekend: the front door handle, knobs for built-ins, and hinges.

A great picture of the door color and the new handle.

Steve and I were both surprised how well this handle came out.

These knobs were brass before.  Much cuter now!

We also put up some blinds and got some yard sale-ing in this weekend.  We actually found an over sized chair/love sofa for free that fits into our space perfectly.  You can't get any better than that.
