Hamptonites!

It's time to play catch up.  Steve and I moved into the house on Saturday.  We had the truck by 8:00am, had moved out of Seabrook by 10:00am and were moved into the house by noon.  All in all, a very successful day!  There was no stopping us at that point.  We went to Home Depot (we are already making friends) and got a grill, blinds, and gardening supplies.  Here are some pictures to illustrate our progress.

The view from the door connecting the house to the garage before the kitchen demolition.

The new kitchen will have a similar layout but with the removal of the walls it will have a larger footprint.  We are also adding an island.  The stove, sink (under the windows) and the dishwasher will all stay in the same place.  The fridge will go next to the dishwasher.  In order to make room for the fridge, we are removing two windows and adding a patio door to allow access to the deck.  We ordered the new kitchen cabinets today and they should be here in 4 weeks.  The clock has started!!!
The kitchen during demo.  Scary!

The mock up of the island.

A before picture of where the windows will be removed and a door added to access the deck.

The other project that we were able to tackle before we moved in was the upstairs bathroom.  This bathroom will serve as our master bathroom.  With the help of my mom (painter) and my dad (towel bar installer), we were able to get this room pretty much complete... except for the overhead fan but we're working on that.  Here's the before and after.

I'm glad that we were able to complete one room, especially since it's a room we'll be using everyday.

Here are some pictures of the gardens and the exterior of the house.  The next couple projects on the list include these areas.  I have big plans for the gardens.  Currently, they are overgrown (as you'll see) and completely undefined.  With the help of my mother-in-law I was able to make some serious progress on the corner garden but there's still a lot to do.  All of the garden pictures, except for the first, are before pictures.

The end of this week and into next week, the construction on the new deck will start. Here's a look at the old deck which Steve and I will be ripping out.  The new deck will be to the left (when looking at the back of the house) of the old deck so that we can walk out of the kitchen instead of the garage.

Phew!  I think you're caught up with what's going on.  I'll try to update once a week with new pictures.  Enjoy!

Jill
